Congress MP Imran Masood hit back at Samajwadi Party leader Udaiveer Singh, asserting that the SP benefited from its alliance with the Congress in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and alleging that the party cannot tolerate a Muslim leader who speaks.

Recently, Udaiveer Singh said that Imran Masood should not be taken seriously and that there was no discussion of any alliance with him. The SP leader asserted that only the party's top leadership would decide such matters.

Replying to this, Masood said, "Samajwadi Party is the one shouting for an alliance... and it is due to the alliance that you could bring 37 seats in 2024; otherwise, you could not even pass 120 seats in 2022."

He further alleged, "Samajwadi Party cannot tolerate a Muslim leader... or a leader who speaks, and such a leader is in Congress now."

The war of words between the two leaders comes ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

The Congress and the Samajwadi Party contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections together as part of the INDIA bloc. The alliance performed strongly, with the Samajwadi Party emerging as the largest party from Uttar Pradesh and the Congress winning six seats.

The two parties are expected to contest the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in alliance as well, although no official announcement has been made so far. (ANI)
