BJP National President Nitin Nabin on Tuesday announced that the Bharatiya Janata Party would launch a statewide agitation against the Congress government in Telangana, alleging that the ruling party had failed to fulfil the promises it made to the people before the Assembly elections.

Addressing the Telangana BJP Executive Meeting held at the Rock Convention Centre in Medchal-Malkajgiri district, Nabin called upon party leaders and workers to intensify their fight against the state government and take the issues of the people to every village and town across Telangana.

Nabin said the BJP's primary responsibility was to stand with the people of Telangana and raise its voice on every issue affecting farmers, youth, women, employees and other sections of society. He urged party leaders to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level and expose what he described as the "failures and false promises" of the Congress government.

Drawing a comparison between the BJP and the Congress, Nabin said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP has consistently honoured the guarantees and commitments it makes to the people. In contrast, he alleged that the Congress government in Telangana had failed to implement several of its key election promises even after assuming office.

"The people voted for Congress with great expectations, but those expectations have been betrayed. The government has failed to fulfil its guarantees, and it must be held accountable," he said.

Stepping up his criticism, the BJP leader alleged that the Congress government had turned Telangana into an "ATM for Delhi" through what he referred to as the "RR Tax" model. He claimed that the state's resources were being diverted for political interests instead of being utilised for the welfare and development of Telangana.

Announcing the party's future course of action, Nabin said the BJP had decided to launch a sustained statewide agitation against the Congress government with immediate effect. He said the party would organise protests and public outreach programmes across Telangana to expose what it considers the government's failures and mobilise public opinion.

Nabin also targeted the previous BRS government, accusing it of large-scale financial irregularities in the execution of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. He alleged that while the previous government had "looted public money" through the project, the present Congress government was attempting to misuse funds in the name of the proposed Musi River development project.

Without elaborating further, he also alleged that the Congress, BRS and AIMIM work together on several political issues despite presenting themselves as rivals in public. According to him, such political understanding had weakened governance and harmed the interests of Telangana.

The BJP National President further alleged that the Congress lacked genuine commitment towards the nation's interests and accused the party of pursuing politics driven by self-interest rather than public welfare.

Expressing confidence in the BJP's organisational growth in Telangana, Nabin said the party was steadily expanding its presence across the state under the leadership of its state unit. He said the enthusiasm among party workers and increasing public support would help the BJP emerge as a strong alternative in Telangana.

"We are witnessing rapid growth of the BJP in Telangana. With the dedication of our cadre and the support of the people, we are confident of forming a BJP government in the state in the coming days," Nabin said, urging party workers to remain united and work tirelessly to achieve that goal.

The Telangana BJP Executive Meeting was attended by senior party leaders, elected representatives, office-bearers and workers from across the state, who discussed the party's organisational strategy and future political programmes ahead of the upcoming electoral battles. (ANI)
