Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president YS Sharmila on Friday met with the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, at the residence of Congress Parliamentary chairperson Sonia Gandhi's residence in the national capital.
The meeting focused on plans to strengthen Congress operations in Andhra Pradesh. In an 'X' post, Sharmila said, "Met with AICC top leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Shri Rahul Gandhi, at his 10 Janpath residence in Delhi today. We discussed various aspects regarding the strengthening of the Congress party in Andhra Pradesh and received several suggestions and guidance from him." Currently, Congress has no MLAs in Andhra Pradesh, as has been the case since 2009. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today shared a warm hug with Rahul Gandhi during a meeting held at the residence of Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi, in the national capital. The meeting comes a day after Siddaramaiah tendered his resignation as Karnataka Chief Minister following directions from the Congress high command, with Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar likely to succeed him as the next Chief Minister of the state. Concluding his meeting with Rahul Gandhi, Siddaramaiah also met Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge. Meanwhile, the Karnataka government today also issued an official gazette notification stating that Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has accepted Siddaramaiah's resignation under Article 164(1) of the Constitution of India and dissolved the Council of Ministers headed by him with immediate effect.
