BJP National President Nitin Nabin on Wednesday held a roadshow in the Mattannur Assembly constituency, expressing confidence that the party will secure a strong mandate in the upcoming Kerala assembly elections.

Speaking to ANI, Nitin Nabin said, "This time BJP will get a very good response from the public of Keralam. From 2% to 20% under the leadership of Narendra Modi, we are very confident that this time Lotus will give a clear-cut mandate for the state assembly election."

The BJP chief highlighted that the party aims to provide an alternative to the existing LDF and UDF governments, focusing on development, employment for youth, and welfare programs. He accused both ruling fronts of prioritising personal and family interests over the public and pledged that the BJP would work for the people's benefit.

"The way LDF and UDF have been playing a match-fixing game with the public, we will expose them. Both have ruled for 70 years and have focused only on their families, not the people."

This time, the BJP will provide a genuine alternative government. We will work for the welfare of the people, development, infrastructure, growth, and employment for the youth."

Keralam has traditionally followed an alternating pattern of governance, switching between the LDF and the UDF every five years since 1982. This trend was broken in 2021 when the LDF, led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, was re-elected for a second consecutive term.

While the LDF and the UDF are frontrunners in the polls, the BJP will attempt to make a mark after its historic win in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation elections.

Polling for the Keralam assembly elections will be held in a single phase on April 9, with the counting of votes scheduled on May 4. The tenure of the current assembly is set to conclude on May 23.

The state has around 2.7 crore electors. Following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the state electoral roll, the final voter list for Keralam was released on February 21.

The revised roll includes 2,69,53,644 voters--1,31,26,048 male voters with 4,24,518 voters in the 18-19 age group. (ANI)
