Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Desh Deepak Singh on Tuesday rejected the allegations made by former Bareilly City Magistrate Alankar Agnihotri, who resigned from his post recently.

He called his claims baseless and clarified that there was no hostage situation, only a cordial meeting for discussion.

Speaking to ANI, Singh said, "There was no hostage situation whatsoever. Basically, he (Alankar Agnihotri) went there himself to meet everyone. The three of us ADMs were there - the ADM Administration, our City ADM, and DM, everyone was there. He was even offered coffee. They had a good conversation over coffee...There was no question of him being held hostage or anything like that."

"He went there himself for a discussion, and after talking, he left...There were discussions that if he is facing any mental difficulties, take a day or two off. Go on leave. If you feel you have any problems, take four days off. But he wasn't ready for that, so after a cordial discussion, he was sent back...Absolutely, the allegations made by Alankar Agnihotri are baseless. There was no hostage situation whatsoever," he said.

Singh's remarks came after Alankar Agnihotri, who resigned as the City Magistrate of Bareilly, alleged that an "anti-Brahmin campaign" was underway in Uttar Pradesh.

He also alleged that Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand and his disciples were mistreated during the Magh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.

"An anti-Brahmin campaign is going on in the Uttar Pradesh government for quite some time now. Brahmins are being singled out and tortured. Somewhere, a deputy jailer is beating a Brahmin. In another police station, a disabled Brahmin is being beaten to death. Just imagine the recent incidents over the last two weeks, including the Magh Mela, where on the day of Mauni Amavasya, our Shankaracharya of Jyotir Math (Jyotishpeeth), Swami Avimukteshwarananda Saraswati Maharaj, went to take a bath. His disciples, along with elderly monks, were beaten with feet, kicks, and shoes," he said.

"When the administration beats like this, do you want to send the message to people from other communities outside that when the administration beats like this, there will be a massacre? What do you want? Do you want to massacre Brahmins?" Atgnihotri told ANI. (ANI)
