"Reflects his vision, attachment": CM Manik Saha praises PM Modi's letter on Tripura statehood day

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Wednesday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership for the state's progress, stating that under his regime, the pace of development has accelerated significantly.

Referring to PM Modi's letter on Tripura Foundation Day, the Chief Minister stressed that it reflects the Prime Minister's deep attachment to and vision for the state.

"It is a matter of great pride for us that Tripura attained full statehood on this very day. Since Prime Minister Modi came to power, the pace of development in Tripura has accelerated significantly. Today, we read the Prime Minister's letter, which reflects his vision for Tripura, his deep attachment," Manik Saha told ANI.

Saha asserted that the state foundation day is not just one day; law and order, good security, and other works have to be done throughout the year. He stated that every citizen must work toward a developed India and a developed Tripura by 2047.

"All departments are performing well, and today we have honoured several such individuals who have brought glory to Tripura... Foundation Day is not just about one day; we have to work 365 days a year, maintain law and order, and ensure good security... We must proceed keeping in mind the goal we have set for a developed India and a developed Tripura by 2047," Manik Saha said.

As Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura marked their Statehood Day on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings to the people of the three northeastern states.

The Prime Minister wrote separate letters to the Chief Ministers of Tripura and Meghalaya and underscored his government's continued focus on development and inclusive growth in the northeast.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his statehood day greetings. Saha appreciated the Prime Minister's reaffirmation of the Centre's commitment to inclusive development, improved connectivity, peace, and prosperity in the Northeast.

Following the enactment of the North-Eastern Areas (Reorganisation) Act, Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura became individual states in 1972.

The North-Eastern Areas (Reorganisation) Act, 1971, reorganised the states in the strategic northeastern region of the country. Under this Act, Manipur and Tripura were granted statehood on January 21, 1972; whereas the state of Meghalaya was carved out from Assam due to its distinct terrain from the rest of Assam. (ANI)
