"Shall forever remain indebted to soldiers": Rahul, Priyanka Gandhi on 78th Army Day

Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday extended greetings on the occasion of 78th Army Day, paying tribute to the courage, sacrifice and selfless service of the country's armed forces.

In a post on X, he conveyed his heartfelt wishes to soldiers, ex-servicemen and their families, acknowledging their unwavering commitment to the nation.

"Heartfelt Army Day greetings to our brave soldiers, ex-servicemen, and their families who are always ever-ready to defend the nation. We shall forever remain indebted to them for their indomitable courage, valor, and supreme sacrifices. Jai Hind!," Rahul Gandhi said.

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also saluted the Indian Army, highlighting the stories of sacrifice behind every uniform.

"Behind every uniform is a story of sacrifice, courage, and love for the nation. On Indian Army Day, I salute our brave soldiers for their bravery, resilience and selfless service. Jai Hind," Priyanka posted on X.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge extended greetings on Indian Army Day, paying tribute to the courage, professionalism, and sacrifices of Army personnel, veterans, and their families, and lauding the force's role in safeguarding the nation, ensuring internal security, and providing support during natural calamities.

In a post on X, Kharge wrote, "On Indian Army Day, we bow in reverence and gratitude to our brave soldiers, veterans, ex servicemen and their families. The Indian Army stands as the steadfast shield of our nation, protecting our borders across the most formidable terrains, strengthening stability during internal security challenges, and extending unflinching support during natural calamities. We remain forever indebted to your indomitable courage, exemplary professionalism, and spirit of selfless sacrifice that keeps India secure."

Army Day is commemorated every year on January 15 to mark the occasion of Field Marshal KM Cariappa taking over command of the Indian Army from British Commander-in-Chief General Sir FRR Bucher in 1949, becoming the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of Independent India. (ANI)
