Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Monday paid tributes to Swami Vivekananda on the occasion of his birth anniversary and highlighted that his government declared the year 2026 dedicated to farmers' welfare in the state.

Speaking to reporters, CM Yadav said, "Today is Swami Vivekananda Jayanti, and I extend my greetings to the people of the state and the entire country on this occasion. The Prime Minister has mentioned four categories: farmers, youth, women, and the poor, and our government has decided to dedicate and observe each year to them. Our last year was dedicated to employment and industries, and before that year 2024 was dedicated to women. Now, this year 2026 has been dedicated to farmers' welfare."

To bring betterment in the agriculture sector and in the lives of farmers, 16 different government departments, which include horticulture, animal husbandry, agriculture, MSME heavy industry, other agriculture-based industries etc will work for the farmers' welfare, the CM said.

"In coordination with different departments, yesterday we announced this year dedicated to farmers' welfare. I am satisfied that by the end of this year, we will work on various aspects of farmer welfare," he added.

Earlier on Sunday, Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav formally launched Farmer Welfare Year 2026 in Bhopal. He announced that 2026 would be observed as 'Krishak Kalyan Varsh', during which special emphasis would be laid on farmers' interests. For the effective implementation of Farmer Welfare Year, 16 departments of the state government will work in close coordination to strengthen all dimensions of agriculture, including production, cost, marketing, income, and overall welfare.

CM Yadav highlighted that the state's agricultural growth rate reached 16 percent, reflecting the inherent potential of the sector and the success of policy initiatives. He clarified that the government's objective was not limited to increasing production alone, but also to enhancing farmers' income and reducing agricultural input costs through practical and effective measures.

He added that developmental and welfare-oriented programmes would continue throughout the year. The government remains committed to ensuring farmer prosperity, sustainable agriculture and renewed strength for the rural economy. (ANI)
