Anearthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale struck Morigaon district in Assam early this morning, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).
The tremor occurred at 4:17 AM (IST) at a depth of 50 Kilometres. The epicentre was recorded at a latitude of 26.37 degrees north and a longitude of 92.29 degrees east.
