Students at two Delhi University colleges were evacuated on Wednesday morning after Deshbandhu College and Ramjas College received bomb threat emails, officials said. Police and bomb squads reached both campuses and began checking the premises.

Students described chaotic scenes as security personnel rushed to clear the premises.

Shivang Chandra, a second-year student at Deshbandhu College, told ANI that their practical examination had just ended when they suddenly heard police shouting.

"Within minutes, security guards started blowing whistles and pushing everyone outside. At first, there was no clarity, but then we received an official notification that both Ramjas College and Deshbandhu College had received threat emails. Practical exams were cancelled, and all students were asked to leave immediately," he said.

Another student, Keshav, said he was preparing for his practical when the alert spread.

"We were informed that there was a bomb threat on campus. You can see the fear in the crowd, the atmosphere of panic. The administration and police are trying to control everything," Keshav said.

Neha, a third-year BA student, recounted that the college received the threat in the morning. "After 10 am, entry was stopped, and by 10:30, they began evacuating students. After the Delhi bomb blast incident recently, the fear has only increased. It feels like something can happen anywhere, anytime," she said.

Delhi Police confirmed that the threat emails were received by both institutions around the same time. Multiple police teams, along with the bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs, were deployed at the sites.

So far, no suspicious object has been found during the searches, officials said. Further investigation is underway.

Further details are awaited.

Last month, a private school in Chanakyapuri also received a bomb threat, which was later declared a hoax after a thorough police sweep yielded nothing. (ANI)
