Bihar Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Harsidhi assembly seat, Krishnanandan Paswan, exuded confidence about his victory on Tuesday, asserting that he will win by a margin of 50,000 votes as the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is set to return to power in Bihar with a "thumping majority."

After casting his vote, Paswan said he first offered prayers before proceeding to the polling booth.

"I bowed before the deities and then cast my vote. It is a machine, so there might be technical issues, but the delay was minimal. Voters of Harsidhi are giving me their blessings. Therefore, I can confidently say that I will win by a margin of 50,000 votes. NDA will form the Government in Bihar once again with a thumping majority," he told ANI.

Polling in Harsidhi is part of the ongoing second-phase Bihar Assembly elections, where voter turnout has remained steady since morning. Security personnel are deployed to ensure a smooth and peaceful polling process across sensitive constituencies.

The Harsidhi constituency, located in East Champaran district, has traditionally witnessed close contests between NDA and Mahagathbandhan candidates.

Meanwhile, Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) founder Prashant Kishor on Tuesday morning asserted that the voting in Bihar should focus on the state's issues, downplaying the heightened security measures in the state following a blast in Delhi, in which eight people were killed.

Speaking to ANI, Kishor argued that things like the Delhi blast near the Red Fort may 'sometimes happen' during elections, and people in Bihar needn't get terrified. Extending support to the government, he said that the people of Bihar and the country have elected leaders to Parliament to ensure security.

He emphasised that security is being handled by the elected government and assured that all necessary actions will be taken. Voting is currently underway in Bihar's second and final phase of assembly elections.

"Such things are occasional during elections. There's no need for the people of Bihar to be terrified by this. It's an election in Bihar. Voting should be based on the issues of Bihar. For security, the people of Bihar and the country have elected people to Parliament. We all stand with the government and Parliament. The government will take whatever action is necessary," Kishor said.

In the first phase, polling was held on Thursday in 121 seats across 18 districts. Following a historic voter turnout in the first phase of polls, voting for 122 assembly constituencies across 20 districts in Bihar is ongoing on Tuesday. The counting of votes will take place on 14.

A total of 3,70,13,556 electors will vote in the second phase of the Bihar elections, including 1,95,44,041 male voters and 1,74,68,572 female voters. 943 third-gender voters will also cast their votes in the elections.

Forty-five thousand three hundred ninety-nine polling stations have been set up across the state, which include 40,073 in rural areas and 5,326 in urban areas. Five hundred ninety-five all-women-managed polling stations, 316 model polling stations, and 91 PwD-managed polling stations have also been set up across the state. (ANI)
