Amid the ongoing first phase of polls for Bihar assembly elections, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Yogi Adityanath on Thursday hit out at the Mahagathbandhan for allegedly trying to "deceive" the people of the state and giving the youth an "identity crisis."

"Today I have come among you to ask who those people are who created an identity crisis for the youth of Bihar? Who are those people who tarnished Bihar's identity?" the BJP leader asked the people while addressing a public rally in Parihar assembly constituency.

Highlighting the contributions of the youth of Bihar aiding development across the world, Yogi Adityanath added, "Let Bihar have the youth who have their own intelligence and own talent. Wherever Bihar's youth went in the world, they benefited society with their intelligence, intellect, talent, and identity. But the RJD and Congress, who created an identity crisis for Bihar, are again trying to create a deception."

He further expressed confidence at an NDA victory in Bihar, saying that now the people "will never give a chance" to the RJD or Congress.

The Parihar constituency, one of the 243 assembly seats in the state, is witnessing a triangular contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), and the Jan Suraaj Party in the second phase of polling, set to happen on November 11.

The BJP has fielded Gayatri Devi, the RJD has fielded Smita Gupta, while the Jan Suraaj Party has announced Aawdesh Prasad as its candidate. BJP has retained the seat since 2010, since the constituency was formed. Gayatri Devi is the current two-time MLA in Parhihar.

Meanwhile, Bihar recorded a voter turnout of 27.65 per cent in the first four hours of the first phase of assembly elections, according to the data of the Election Commission of India.

The Begusarai district recorded the highest turnout of 30.37 per cent, while Patna, the capital of the state, recorded a slow turnout of 23.71 per cent till 11 am. Lakhisarai, which earlier recorded a sluggish turnout at 9 am, has now recorded a turnout of 30.32 per cent till 11 am. (ANI)
