With just three days remaining for the first phase of polling in Bihar, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav on Monday launched a sharp attack on the NDA, alleging that the ruling alliance wanted to "mortgage Bihar" and was anxious over RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav's promises of jobs and recognition for women, while mocking the BJP as a party of "Gappu and Chappu".

Speaking to the reporters, Yadav said, "The NDA wants to mortgage Bihar. They're nervous. They're worried because of Tejashwi's promise of jobs, honouring 2500 women. This time, the people of Bihar will choose harmony.... 'BJP Gappu ka mamla hai'... They said they will provide land on the moon, deposit Rs 15 lakhs in the bank account and create crores of jobs."

"They're people who have been hurt by America. America is scaring them, so they'll resort to this kind of tactic so that their failure is not debated in the elections. The BJP has big 'Gappu' and their 'Chappu'... We need to save Bihar from 'Gappu' and 'Chappu'," he added.

On Sunday, Yadav alleged that employment has never been the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP's) agenda, and this was the reason for migration.

He was campaigning for singer-actor and RJD leader Khesari Lal Yadav in Chapra.

Speaking to reporters, Akhilesh Yadav said, "Employment has never been the BJP's agenda. This is the reason there is migration. Why is a government job in every house not possible? When I created Expressway for Rs 14,000 crores, BJP said that it cannot be done. When I built it and sanctioned it further, then it is the same Expressway where the PM had landed. Has the BJP created any such Highway?"

Earlier, Akhilesh Yadav criticised the BJP over a murder incident in Mokama, saying that if such a crime can occur despite heavy security deployment, it raises the question of whether the state is under "jungle raj" or "mangal raj".

The SP chief questioned the law and order situation and asked how such crimes could occur in areas where top leaders, including the Prime Minister and Home Minister, were campaigning.

Polling for the 243-seat Bihar Assembly is scheduled to take place in two phases on November 6 and November 11, with the counting set for November 14. (ANI)
