Uttarkashi District Magistrate Prashant Arya on Thursday mandated that all officers answer phone calls from the public or face strict action.
District Magistrate Arya has issued an official order stating that strict action will be taken against officers who fail to answer public phone calls. In the office order, the DM mentioned that several district- and block-level officers do not respond to phone calls from public representatives and citizens, which causes inconvenience for people in resolving their issues and grievances. This results in citizens often being compelled to visit the block or district headquarters in person. "In view of this, the District Magistrate has warned such officers of strict disciplinary action if they continue to ignore calls from the public," according to an official statement. Earlier, on October 5, DM Arya conducted a field inspection of Jadong village to review the progress of ongoing construction work in the area. He directed the concerned officials to ensure timely completion and maintain high-quality standards. Before the inspection, the District Magistrate also held discussions on various relevant issues with the ITBP Commanding Officer and other officials. The border village of Jadong, situated along the India-China frontier in Uttarkashi district, is on its way to becoming a new tourism destination under the Vibrant Village Programme, according to a release. Along with linking local residents to social and economic development opportunities and employment, various development projects are progressing rapidly in the area. The District Magistrate informed that in the first phase of the plan, six homestays are being constructed in the traditional architectural style, while eight more will be built in the second phase, making a total of 14 homestays. He further highlighted that Jadong village was evacuated during the 1962 India-China war. However, local residents have continued to visit the village to worship at their traditional temples. (ANI)
