Amid the ongoing Chhath Puja festivities, District Magistrate, Patna Dr Thiyagarajan SM, said that preparations were over and the ghats were decorated.

He further said that an App has also been created to get all the details.

Dr Thiyagarajan SM said, "The preparations for the Chhath festival are complete. All the ghats have been decorated and are ready. Out of 108 ghats in Patna, 6 ghats have been identified as dangerous. For the ghats that fall under the dangerous category, ponds have been constructed there. Arrangements for control rooms, toilets, changing rooms, lighting, parking, etc, have been made. An advisory has also been issued for the public. An App has also been created to get details of Parking facilities. Aged, pregnant women and children should avoid going to ghats and do it at home. Municipal Corporation is distributing Ganga water in homes."

"Instructions have been given in the App not to burst firecrackers. People should go in queue to the ghats. People should not go to the barricaded areas. Ambulances will also be kept ready," he added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday extended his greetings on the occasion of Chhath Puja, describing the festival as a reflection of the "deep unity" between culture, nature, and society. He noted that devotees from all sections of society come together at ghats, which he called the "most beautiful" example of India's social harmony.

In the 127th episode of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Modi said, "All of us celebrated Diwali a few days ago, and now a large number of people are busy with Chhath Puja. Thekuas are being made at homes. Ghats are being decorated. The way women devotees prepare for the Chhath is an inspiration. Mahaparva of Chhath is a reflection of the deep unity between culture, nature, and society. Every section of society comes together at the Chhath ghats. This sight is the most beautiful example of India's social unity."

The Prime Minister also urged people to participate in Chhath Puja festivities, stating, "Wherever you are in the world, if you have a chance, try to participate in Chhath Puja. I bow down to Chhathi Maiya. I extend my greetings to the countrymen on the occasion of Chhath, especially to the people of Bihar, Jharkhand and Purvanchal."

Sunday marks 'Kharna,' the second day of the festival. In the evening, after praying to Chhathi Maiya (Goddess), the 'vratis' break their fast with a special meal. This includes: Rasiya kheer and roti. The day's rituals serve as a final step in cleansing the mind, body, and soul after the initial cleanse on the first day (Nahay Khay). The meal after the Kharna puja is the last time vratis eat before beginning the strict 36-hour waterless fast that continues until the final day of the festival. (ANI)
