Former Bihar Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav on Saturday sharply criticised the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government over train arrangements for the Chhath festival, highlighting the ongoing migration challenges faced by the state.

The RJD supremo alleged that the "uncrowned king of lies and the leader of empty promises" had claimed that 12,000 out of the country's total 13,198 trains would operate for Bihar during Chhath. The RJD leader termed the promise a blatant deception.

In a post on X, Lalu Yadav wrote, "The uncrowned king of lies and the leader of empty promises had boasted that out of the country's total , trains, , trains would be operated for Bihar on the occasion of Chhath festival. This too turned out to be a blatant lie."

Addressing the plight of Biharis, Lalu said, "In the years of the NDA government, the people of Bihar, suffering the pain of migration, cannot even get trains to run properly for the great festival of faith, Chhath. My fellow Biharis are forced to travel in trains in an inhumane manner. How shameful is this? "

He further blamed the "double-engine government" for the state's persistent migration challenges, claiming that poor policies have forced millions to leave Bihar every year in search of work.

"Due to the wrong policies of the double-engine government, more than crore people from Bihar migrate to other states for work every year. Since the UPA government, the NDA government has not established any major industry in Bihar. These people are anti-Bihar," he added.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday shared songs dedicated to Chhathi Maiya, emphasising the spiritual and cultural significance of the Chhath Mahaparv, and extended his greetings to devotees across the country.

In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, "Today, on this auspicious occasion, I am sharing with all of you some songs dedicated to Chhathi Maiya (Goddess Chhathi), which will mesmerise everyone who listens to them. My heartfelt wishes to all the devotees across the country, including those in Bihar. My respects and salutations to all those observing the fast!"

The four-day Chhath Mahaparv, dedicated to the worship of the Sun God, begins today with the sacred ritual of Nahay-Khay.

This year, the festival will be celebrated from October 25 to 28, with rituals including Nahay-Khay on Chaturthi Tithi of Kartik Shukla Paksha, Kharna on Panchami, Chhath Puja on Sashti, and concluding Usha Arghya on Saptami. (ANI)
