"In this dire situation because past govts failed to act in time": Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw on Bengaluru infrastructure crisis

Biocon Chairperson Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw once again highlighted the urgent need for better infrastructure and garbage management in the city.

Shaw blamed past governments for the current dire situation and urged the present administration to act swiftly to address decades of neglect.

She called for timely garbage clearance and road resurfacing, emphasising that government ministers must hold the responsible authorities accountable to improve the situation.

In a post on X, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw wrote, "We are in this dire situation because of past Govts failure to act in time. This Government has the opportunity to change this n act fast to fix these decades of deteriorating infrastructure n garbage management."

"All I am seeking is garbage clearance n road resurfacing which ought to be done by the GBA. Govt Ministers need to hold them responsible n accountable for shoddy and slow work. Here Govt n Citizens need to be on the same page. If garbage mafia is not doing their job then we," Shaw wrote in another post on X.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar responded to Biocon Chairperson Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw's criticism of Bengaluru's infrastructure, highlighting the efforts made by the government to improve the city.

He said the creation of the East Bengaluru Corporation was aimed at supporting IT companies by improving traffic and road conditions.

"In order to help the IT companies, for better traffic, better roads, we made East Bengaluru Corporation," Shivakumar told reporters.

Meanwhile, earlier, in response to the criticism, Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge told ANI that the visitor may not have seen the complete picture, adding that infrastructure work in the city is progressing rapidly.

"I am not sure which part of Bengaluru they have seen. As I have said, the work is in progress. We are growing at a rapid pace, and whatever is necessary for the infrastructure improvement, we are doing it," Kharge told ANI. (ANI)
