Bihar Minister Nitin Nabin on Wednesday condemned the derogatory remarks made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother, stating that the people of Bihar felt deeply hurt and ashamed over the comments.

Speaking to ANI, the minister said the statement not only insulted the Prime Minister but also hurt the sentiments of the people of Bihar.

"PM Modi has a connection with the people of the country. He has served them like a 'sevak'. He has increased the respect for women in the country. Be it the construction of 'Izzat Ghar' or Ujjwala Yojana or PM Awas Yojana, he has honoured women with everything. Women in the country consider him their 'sevak', their brother," Nabin said.

The Bihar minister further added that there was widespread outrage over the insult to the Prime Minister.

"There is outrage across the country over the insult to such a man. So, when the PM was speaking, he seemed hurt. People of Bihar are ashamed because the kind of words that were used from the soil of Bihar, every son of Bihar is hurt by it. People of Bihar will avenge this insult to PM Modi," he added.

Meanwhile, Bihar Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Dilip Jaiswal also strongly condemned the remarks made during the INDIA bloc's 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' and criticised the opposition for not expressing any regret. He further asserted that the people of Bihar and the nation would "never forgive them."

"The way abuses were hurled against the mother of the PM by the INDIA bloc alliance during the 'Voter Adhikar Yatra'. And after that, they did not even realise or say anything; the people of Bihar and the nation will never forgive them... That is why the people of Bihar and the whole nation are asking members of the INDIA alliance which 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' they went for, in which abuses were hurled against a mother." Jaiswal told ANI.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a public address in Bihar on Tuesday, also responded to the remarks and criticised the Congress, stating that the party has never tolerated leaders from backwards communities rising to prominence.

PM Modi said, "The struggles (Tapasya) of a poor mother, the suffering of her son--these young princes born into royal families cannot understand. These 'naamdaar' people were born with a silver spoon in their mouths. The power of the country and Bihar seems like an inheritance of their family to them."

He further criticised the Congress, saying the party has never tolerated backwards or extremely backwards people moving ahead. "Congress has never tolerated a backwards or extremely backwards person moving ahead! They think that 'namdaars' have the right to abuse 'kaamdaars'... that is why they abuse," he said.

The Prime Minister also lauded the role of women in defeating the RJD in Bihar, saying they were instrumental in removing the party from power."

Bihar has come out of that darkness after a long battle. All you women of Bihar have played a very big role in removing RJD and defeating it repeatedly. That is why, be it the RJD or Congress, these people are most upset with you, women, today. These people want to take revenge on you; they are looking for an opportunity so that they can punish you," he said.

PM Modi condemned the abusive remarks directed at his late mother, saying they were an insult to all mothers, sisters, and daughters in India.

"Mother is our world. Mother is our self-respect. I had not even imagined what happened a few days ago in this tradition-rich Bihar. My mother was abused from the stage of RJD-Congress in Bihar... These abuses are not just an insult to my mother. These are insults to the mothers, sisters and daughters of the country," he said. (ANI)
