Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday participated in the "Shri Krishna Parva" organised at Jaanapav, the birthplace of Lord Parshuram in Indore, on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami.

During this, the Chief Minister also showered flowers on the devotees and extended warm greetings on the holy festival of Shri Krishna Janmashtami.

According to an official release, the CM highlighted that the divine leelas of Lord Shri Krishna are unparalleled and the state government is running a campaign to develop all sites associated with Shri Krishna into major pilgrimage destinations across the state.

He stated that just as Mathura, Gokul, and Vrindavan hold great significance, Jaanapav too is equally important. It was here that Lord Parshuram bestowed the Sudarshan Chakra upon Shri Krishna, making this site historically sacred. Whenever other weapons failed, Shri Krishna used the Sudarshan Chakra, and his glory echoed everywhere.

The Chief Minister also said that the life and leelas of Lord Shri Krishna offer timeless lessons for humanity. Jaanapav has also been included in the "Shri Krishna Pathey" pilgrimage circuit, and all necessary development works will be undertaken here for the convenience of visiting devotees.

Additionally, speaking to ANI, CM Yadav said, "Parshuram ji gave Lord Shri Krishna the Sudarshan Chakra here in Jaanapav... We are fortunate that Jaanapav is a part of Madhya Pradesh. Today, we enjoyed Janmashtami here with all the legislators. We all have the blessings of the Lord..."

Janmashtami is celebrated as the day when Lord Krishna was born. Lord Krishna's birthday falls on the Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadrapad. Although the celebration takes place in different parts of the country, Mathura and Vrindavan hold a special significance. One being his birthplace, and one where he spent his childhood and did his baal leela.

At midnight, a special ritual is performed when the idol of Lord Krishna is bathed in milk, yoghurt, honey, ghee, and water. During the Krishna Abhishek, bells are rung, conch shells are blown, and Vedic hymns are performed. (ANI)
