"BJP turned EC into poll rigging machinery": CM MK Stalin amid row over "vote theft" allegations

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Monday accused the BJP of "turning the Election Commission into its poll rigging machinery" and stated that the DMK stands "shoulder to shoulder" in this fight.

In a post on X, CM Stalin wrote, "The BJP has turned the Election Commission into its poll rigging machinery. What happened in Bengaluru's Mahadevapura is not an administrative lapse; it is a calculated conspiracy to steal the people's mandate."

His post came amid the allegations of "vote chori" (vote theft) by Rahul Gandhi who is Leader of Oppostion in the Lok Sabha and a proposed march of INDIA bloc MP's from Parliament to Election Commisison to protest over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar and vote theft allegations.

"The VoteTheft evidence presented by my brother and LoP Thiru. RahulGandhi exposes the scale of this fraud. Today, as Thiru. RahulGandhi leads MPs of the INDIA bloc in a march from Parliament House to the ECI, we demand," he said.

He demanded an immediate release of complete machine readable voter roll for every State and an "end to politically driven deletions", and called for an an independent probe into this "subversion of our democracy"

"DMK stands shoulder to shoulder in this fight. We will not watch in silence while the BJP robs India's democracy in broad daylight"

Meanwhile, earlier today, security was tightened and barricades put up outside the Transport Bhawan as the INDIA bloc MPs prepared to march from Parliament to the EC headquarters.The protest is aimed at opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar and what the opposition terms as "voter fraud" during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Members of Parliament from Opposition parties in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are set to march from Makar Dwar in Parliament to the Election Commission office at Nirvachan Sadan on Monday. The march will begin at 11:30 AM and proceed via Transport Bhawan.

The Delhi Police said that no permission has been sought so far for the proposed march by the INDIA Bloc from Parliament to the Election Commission. (ANI)
