Assam Minister Atul Bora has said that works worth Rs 95 crore has been completed on the 'Shaheed Smarak Kshetra' project in Guwahati.

'Shaheed Smarak Kshetra' is being built in Guwahati to honour those who sacrificed their lives in the Assam movement.

"Work worth Rs 95 crore has been completed in the first phase. The construction of the main statue building has been completed. 860 statues of those who sacrificed their lives in the movement will be installed on the ground floor, and it will be called the Hall of Fame. The main statue will be the sixth-tallest statue building in the world...Work on the second phase is also underway," Atul Bora told reporters on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Assam Minister Atul Bora also supported the state's eviction drive against illegal encroachments in tribal areas. He said the move, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, is important to protect tribal land, and praised the CM's visits to districts to monitor the action.

Speaking to ANI, Minister Bora said, "We are wholeheartedly supporting this move of the CM. It is there even in my own district, the CM is visiting there today. It is important to do this, wherever the issue persists, because whoever has encroached on the tribal belt and block? Doubtful people. So, this is very important."

On Tuesday, the Assam State BJP stated that the ongoing eviction drives will continue until every inch of illegally encroached land in Assam is cleared. This is not merely an administrative step; it is the final battle to safeguard the very existence of Assam, stated the BJP, Assam Pradesh. (ANI)
