BJP Spokesperson Rachana Reddy has accused Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of making "unprovoked and mischievous" remarks regarding the prospective Vice President nominee.

BJP leader made remarks in response to Telangana CM's suggestion that Bandaru Dattatraya should be made the next vice president of the country, and in this way, BJP can also compensate for the "injustice" delivered to the OBCs under its tenure.

"Revanth Reddy is trying to shed crocodile tears, which Telangana and the rest of India realise. He is making unprovoked and mischievous comments about the prospective vice president nominee or the vice president. Revanth Reddy stated it will be '100 khoon maaf' if a Telugu-speaking person, particularly Bhandaru Dattatreya, would be made vice president..Congress has repeatedly divided this country, spewing venom among different castes to bolster its vote bank, keeping it united while sowing divisive politics among different castes," Rachana Reddy told ANI.

She further mentioned that Revanth Reddy is trying to create rift among different castes to "prop" up its Muslim vote bank.

"This is the same agenda followed by Revanth Reddy, who indulged in the now questionable 42 per cent reservation for OBCs while adding 10% illegal religion-based reservation," Rachana Reddy said.

Asserting that Bandaru Dattatraya would be a "great" pick for the position of Vice President, Reddy said that it is not for the CM Revanth Reddy to comment on such matters.

"It is for the MPs of Lok Sabha as well as of Rajya Sabha to look into the nominees and vote for the prospective Vice President. It's not Revanth Reddy's job," she added while pointing out that CM Reddy is aiming to create a rift between leaders of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Earlier, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said that the next Vice President of India should be from Telangana, while pitching for Bandaru Dattatraya's nomination for the post.

"All OBCs in South, especially Telangana, were reduced in stature by the NDA. '100 khoon maaf karne ke liye' It would be good if Bandaru Dattatraya is made the Vice President," CM Reddy responded to ANI's question at a press conference.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has initiated preparations for the election to the office of the Vice-President of India following the resignation of incumbent Jagdeep Dhankhar.

According to the ECI, the preparation of the Electoral College, which consists of elected as well as nominated members of the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, the finalisation of the Returning Officer and Assistant Returning Officers, and the preparation and dissemination of background material on all previous Vice-Presidential Elections have already begun.
