Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi on Monday expressed disappointment after taking part in the Business Advisory Committee (BAC). Gogoi noted that the opposition demanded a special session to discuss the Operation Sindoor and Pahalgam attack which was rejected by the government. However, even in the Monsoon session, both issues are not being discussed by the government.

"Various parties had requested that a special session be called on Pahalgam and Operation Sindoor... The government rejected the demand for a special session, and now, even in the monsoon session, they are not discussing Pahalgam and Operation Sindoor. We are disappointed with the BAC (Business Advisory Committee) meeting held today, because the agenda consisted of the government's bills," Gogoi told reporters.

The Congress MP said that even in the agenda of the BAC meeting, the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor were not included. He stated that the government should clarify their stance on the issues.

"The government should clarify which day they will hold this discussion. It is being mentioned that the Prime Minister is going on a foreign tour, and I believe that is important, but today we were meeting for the first time for the monsoon session... Could the discussion not have happened today... or could it not happen tomorrow?... The government should clarify when it will hold the discussion," he said.

The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meetings of both Houses of Parliament was scheduled to take place on Monday, with the Rajya Sabha BAC meeting set for 1 pm and the Lok Sabha BAC meeting at 2 pm.

The Rajya Sabha meeting was to be chaired by the Chairman of the Upper House, while the Speaker of the Lok Sabha will preside over the BAC meeting of the Lower House.

In both Houses, the Business Advisory Committees will deliberate on the legislative agenda and finalise the business to be taken up during the ongoing session. The meetings will determine which issues will be discussed and what business will be prioritised in the respective Houses. (ANI)
