Amid Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar's appeal to all political parties to engage in "constructive politicking", Congress General Secretary in-charge Communications Jairam Ramesh took a sharp jibe on Sunday, urging the Vice President to ensure that the ruling party follows his advice.

In a post on X, the Congress leader said, "Couldn't agree more Honourable Chairman Sir. Well said. Now please ensure the Treasury Benches follow your advice."

Earlier in the day, Vice President Dhankhar, while speaking on the importance of democratic values and political civility, had said, "I appeal to political parties to engage in constructive politicking. And when I say so, I appeal to all parties, parties on the treasury benches, the ruling party and parties that are on the other side. Democracy is never of a kind where the same party will ever come to power... There has to be continuity of development, continuity of our civilizational ethos. And that comes only from one aspect, we must respect democratic culture..."

The remarks came as Monsoon Session of Parliament is set to begin tomorrow, with the Opposition parties planning to discuss the Pahalgam terror attack, demand accountability from the government, and raise the issue of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in Bihar ahead of the upcoming assembly polls.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will brief mediapersons tomorrow just before the commencement of the first day of the Monsoon session.

Furthermore, the Congress has demanded that in the session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi respond to various issues, including the Pahalgam terror attack, US President Donald Trump's ceasefire claims, and the actions of the Election Commission, especially the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar.

"In the all-Party meeting convened by the Modi Govt today, my colleague Gaurav Gogoi, the Deputy Leader of the INC in the Lok Sabha, made the demands for discussion in Parliament on behalf of the INC," the senior Congress leader said in a post on X. (ANI)
