Kanwaria pilgrims gathered to visit the Kashi Vishwanath temple on the first Monday of the month of Sawan.

Speaking to ANI, one of the devotees, Amar Yadav, present in a long queue, said that the approximate number of people present here could be about 10 thousand people.

Another devotee, named Rupesh Kumar, from Muzaffarpur, Bihar said, "I have bathed and am standing since 1 in the morning on this first Monday. I don't want to ask anything to God; there is no request as such. I am here just to offer water to my god."

Vivek Singh from Hardoi, Lucknow, one among a thousand devotees, showed high enthusiasm and expressed that he wants nothing but complete purification and wisdom for everyone. "Baba should make us completely pure and give wisdom to all the devotees who have come here," said Singh, and chanted "Har Har Mahadev".

Earlier on Sunday, as the Kanwar Yatra started gathering momentum, Ayodhya Major Girish Pati Tripathi assured that the Ayodhya Municipal Corporation is fully prepared to provide a safe, smooth, and hygienic experience for the thousands of Kanwar pilgrims expected to visit the city.

Speaking on preparations for this Yatra, the Mayor said, "Ayodhya Municipal Corporation is committed to providing a safe and pleasant journey for pilgrims here. Our teams work 24/7 in Ayodhya continuously and will continue to do so."

He further added, "Our teams are constantly vigilant about cleanliness, and ever since the establishment of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, we have dedicated ourselves to cleanliness. We are in a good environment here, and the district administration is planning to shower flowers on them (Kanwariyas)."The term "Kanwaria" refers to the pilgrims participating in the Kanwar Yatra. During this Hindu pilgrimage, devotees, known as Kanwariyas, carry holy water from the Ganges River to offer at Shiva temples. This is an annual event, which is primarily observed during the Hindu month of Shravan (Sawan), and sees thousands of devotees, often walking barefoot, carrying the sacred water in decorated bamboo poles called "Kanwars".
