Haryana Cabinet Minister Anil Vij on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge over his recent remarks about President Droupadi Murmu, calling them disrespectful and offensive to India's tribal communities.

Vij said, "After this statement, I believe all political parties in the country should boycott Mr. Kharge. The President is the country's first citizen and holds the highest honour. Congress has sunk so low--their thinking has collapsed--when they make such remarks about the President."

He further alleged that Kharge's remarks revealed the Congress party's disregard for tribal communities.

"Their statement also shows that they hate Adivasis; they are opposed to them. They should have welcomed the fact that Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an Adivasi woman the President of the country," Vij added.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, while addressing the 'Kisan Jawan Samvidhan' Rally in Raipur, Chhattisgarh on Monday, raised concerns about widespread deforestation in the state and said, "They just talk big; we made Murma ji President of India, we made (Ram Nath) Kovind President. Yes, you did, but for what? To snatch our property? To snatch our jungles? To stop our water? They have done this to snatch our land.".

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Spokesperson CR Kesavan also condemned the Congress over Kharge's comments on President Murmu, calling the remarks "disgraceful" and symptomatic of the party's dynastic mindset.

"This is a twisted mindset of the Congress party. For them, everything begins and ends with the dynastic first family," Kesavan said, reacting to remarks made by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. He added, "This is not the first time they have launched such a disgraceful attack on President Droupadi Murmu."

Recalling past controversies, Kesavan pointed out that Congress leaders had earlier made disparaging comments during Murmu's presidential candidacy. "One cannot forget when she was a candidate, the Congress party labelled her as someone with an evil ideology. The then Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha called her 'Rashtrapatni'. How demeaning can one party be?" he added.

Kesavan directly questioned Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, demanding clarity on their stand. "What do Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have to say? Will they condemn Kharge ji for these atrocious remarks? No. It is high time Mr. Kharge offers an unconditional apology. Not only Mr Kharge, but also Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have to tender an unqualified apology for having insulted Droupadi Murmu in the past." (ANI)
