Several parts of the national capital experienced light rainfall on Sunday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds for the next five days across Delhi-NCR.

According to IMD, "Light to moderate rain/thunderstorm/lightning accompanied with gusty wind (speed 30-40 kmph) during thunderstorms is likely in North, South, West, and Central Delhi on June 29." Similar weather conditions are expected to continue till July 3.

The forecast included all districts of Delhi, including North, North-East, North-West, South, South-West, South-East, and West Delhi, where light rain and thunderstorms were expected to occur daily, accompanied by a generally cloudy sky.

The weather pattern was extended to NCR regions, including Noida, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Alwar, and Panipat, where moderate spells of rain were predicted. IMD classified the rainfall as light to moderate, with a rainfall range between 2.5 mm to 64.4 mm, depending on the location and intensity.

Cloud cover remained consistent across the region, with generally cloudy to overcast skies being the dominant observation. Officials explained that this level of cloudiness generally indicates continued instability in the atmosphere, keeping conditions ripe for further rainfall.

The IMD also explained its categorical terms, stating: very light rainfall: Trace to 2.4 mm, light rainfall: 2.5 to 15.5 mm, moderate rainfall: 15.6 to 64.4 mm, and heavy to extremely heavy rainfall: above 64.5 mm

On Saturday, several parts of the national capital experienced sudden showers.

The rain brought down temperatures noticeably across several areas.
