AIADMK spokesperson Kovai Sathyan on Saturday welcomed the reported remarks made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the BJP-AIADMK alliance and the chief ministerial candidate for the 2026 Assembly elections. He said that all is well within the BJP-AIADMK alliance and that Edappadi K Palaniswami would lead the state again.

Speaking to ANI, Sathyan responded to the controversy, saying, "The problem is with the understanding of certain statements made by HM Amit Shah. All he said was that the alliance will form the government, and when asked about the question of CM, he said that it will be from the AIADMK."

He added, "All is well in AIADMK and BJP, and the outcome will decide the course of the action, and the outcome is clear that Edappadi K Palaniswami will be the chief minister of Tamil Nadu post the 2026 Assembly elections."

On Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reiterated that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will form the government in Tamil Nadu after the 2026 Assembly elections, with the BJP as a constituent. He further said that the chief ministerial candidate would be from the AIADMK; however, he did not name Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS), the party's current general secretary.

Meanwhile, the ruling DMK dismissed the idea of an AIADMK-BJP alliance's comeback in the state. While speaking to ANI, Party spokesperson TKS Elangovan said, "They will not win. Even AIADMK people will not vote for the BJP. They have insulted Anna and Periyar. The number of MLAs they have now will reduce further."

Elangovan also targeted Tamil actor Vijay's newly formed political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), stating, "Vijay formed the party to become the chief minister without any policy. What's his social language policy? He has no policy."

This remark stirred speculation amid ongoing debates about the dynamics of the BJP-AIADMK alliance ahead of the 2026 elections. (ANI)
