Congress leader Ashok Gehlot paid tribute to former Congress MP Sanjay Gandhi on his birth anniversary at the Congress headquarters in Jaipur.

Targeting the Union Government for not clearing its stance on the Iran-Israel conflict, Ashok Gehlot mentioned that India has always been a non-aligned member, and during Indira Gandhi's tenure, India's image worldwide was "neutral".

However, today, India's foreign policy cannot take any clear stance, which is causing "loss" to the country.

"Congress always took revolutionary steps towards reforms in the country both before and after independence...The Non-Aligned Movement was started during Indira Gandhi's tenure. But see what is happening today with the war between Israel and Iran, and the US also entering it. India is not able to say anything...Today, the government's foreign policy is such that no one can understand it...The Indian govt should tell about its foreign policy", Ashok Gehlot told reporters.

Earlier, amid the escalating Iran-Israel conflict, senior Congress leader and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said the entire country wants peace, harmony, love and affection in the world.

His remarks came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian over the situation. Speaking to reporters, Gehlot said, "...The whole country wants peace and harmony, love, and affection in the world. Rahul Gandhi's slogan is also the same: there should be politics of love in the whole country. We are in favour of this; there should be peace..."

He was asked about PM Modi's conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Following the strikes by the United States at Iran's nuclear facilities, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday spoke with the President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, expressing deep concern at the recent escalations and calling for "immediate de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy"

In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, "Spoke with President of Iran @drpezeshkian. We discussed in detail the current situation. Expressed deep concern at the recent escalations," PM Modi stated. (ANI)
