Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Wednesday lashed out at the Congress party for questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi's engagement with former US President Donald Trump, alleging that the party is constantly seeking ways to undermine India's image.

Calling Congress a "lie-producing factory", Puri said, 'Some of my friends in the lie-producing factory constantly turned to 'there is no invitation, and when a productive 35-minute exchange takes place, they resort to an earlier conversation which took place in January and say this is not the readout.' Let their readout come."

"I don't want to dignify the Congress party's hallucinatory fake narratives, but I get the feeling that they are always looking for some way in which they can show India down," the Union Minister told ANI.

Highlighting the telephonic conversation that took place between PM modi and US President Trump at the sidelines of the G7 Summit held in Canada, Puri said, "A meeting (of PM Modi) was scheduled with President Trump (in Canada), which could not take place in physical format because President Trump had to leave Calgary to return to DC because of some ongoing issues. But the very fact that that was immediately followed up by a 35-minute telephone call, I think we have been given an excellent readout of the meeting. Several objectives were achieved."

"Prime Minister briefed President Trump on the ongoing operation Sindoor," he added.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri informed on Wednesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephonic conversation with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G7 Summit, which took place in Canada. During the conversation, which lasted over half an hour, PM Modi briefed the US President about India's Operation Sindoor and firmly conveyed the message that India has never accepted and will never accept mediation on the issues with Pakistan.

Misri noted, "Prime Minister Modi made it clear to President Trump that during this entire episode, at no time, at any level, were issues such as the India-US trade deal or mediation by the US between India and Pakistan discussed. The halt to military action was discussed directly between India and Pakistan, through existing channels of the two armies, and was at the request of Pakistan."

He added, "Prime Minister Modi stressed that India has never accepted mediation, does not accept it, and will never accept it. There is complete political unanimity in India on this issue."

The remarks come after the US President had time and again claimed that he had used trade as a means for the cessation of hostilities between India and Pakistan.

Earlier in the day, Criticising PM Narendra Modi, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh stressed that India has received "'triple jhatka" in foreign policy and diplomacy.

Addressing the issue of PM Modi and US President Donald Trump's telephonic conversation, Ramesh asserted that Pakistan Field Marshal Asim Munir, whose "provocative, incendiary, inflammatory" comments are directly linked to the Pahalgam terror attacks, has been invited for a one-on-one special lunch with President Trump.

Jairam Ramesh said that it is a "setback" for Indian diplomacy and the government is "quiet" over the issue.

"Understand the 'triple jhatka' that the Indian foreign policy and diplomacy has received. Today, Field Marshal Asim Munir, whose provocative, incendiary, and inflammatory comments are directly linked to the Pahalgam terror attacks. He is today invited for a one-on-one special lunch with President Trump. This is a setback for Indian diplomacy. We are quiet about it, we have not objected to it", Jairam Ramesh told ANI. (ANI)
