Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who is hopeful of a "good victory' in the Nilambur by-election, said everyone in the party and the UDF is fighting together.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra arrived at the Calicut airport on Friday. Upon her arrival, she was welcomed by Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Sunny Joseph and other senior leaders of the party's state unit.

Her visit is very crucial ahead of the Nilambur assembly constituency bypoll. The voting for the by-election will be held on June 19, and the results will be declared on June 23.

The elections were necessitated after the resignation of PV Anvar, an LDF-backed MLA, who stepped down in January after making several allegations against the Left government in the state

"We are fighting very well for the (Nilambur) by-poll, and we are hopeful for a good victory... Everyone in our party and the UDF is fighting together. I am pleased to see everyone putting in hard work. I think we will do very well", Priyanka Gandhi Vadra told reporters on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Congress MP attended the inauguration ceremony of the New Administrative Block Building in MCF Public School in Kalpetta.

Sharing her experience of interacting with the head boy of the school, Priyanka Vadra mentioned that she asked him why he loved the school so much, to which he replied that it gave him the freedom to express his thoughts.

She termed it a compliment for any educational institution if it can give freedom to students to express themselves. She said that if the teachers can listen to the children, hear them out, and help them grow while understanding their point of view.

"I was talking to your head boy, and he told me that he loves the school. I said, why? He said he loves the school because it gives him the freedom to express himself. I think if that is one compliment for any educational institution, it is that if you are able to give the children freedom to express themselves, to argue their points of view out, if teachers are able to listen to them and hear them out and help them to grow while understanding their point of view, then you have truly achieved success as an educational institution. I believe this building will have lots of new facilities", the Congress MP said while addressing the gathering. (ANI)
