All India Anna Dravid Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Monday asserted that the 2026 Assembly elections would mark the end of "hereditary politics" in Tamil Nadu, adding that Chief Minister MK Stalin's dream of what he described as "family rule" would remain a "mirage".

EPS also claimed that the Dravid Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) is rattled by the growing opposition alliance.

"Family rule and hereditary rule are taking place in Tamil Nadu. 2026 will be the election that will put an end to hereditary politics. Stalin's dream will be a mirage and a daydream. As long as AIADMK exists, Stalin's dream will not come true...You cannot bear the fact that an alliance (with the BJP) has been formed. You will tremble when many more parties join us", Eddapaddi K Palaniswami said at the 77th birth anniversary event of former CM Jayalalithaa on Monday.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin chaired a consultation meeting for newly appointed DMK district and state youth wing organisers in Tiruchirappalli.

The Youth Wing strongly condemned the Union government and political forces that challenge federal principles and undermine the Supreme Court verdict using unconstitutional means.

The meeting lauded Chief Minister Stalin for filing a case in the Supreme Court against the Union government's coercive condition of imposing the three-language policy to release Tamil Nadu's rightful funds.

Ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly polls, there have been differences between the Union and state governments on various issues. DMK on one end have always alleged Centre of exploiting Tamil Nadu and ignoring the state in the Union budget. They have also alleged that the Central government of forcing the New Education Policy (NEP) on Tamil Nadu.

On the other hand, the Union Government have denied all the allegations and has said that they have been promoting the Tamil language and culture in all the other parts of the country. (ANI)
