A 25-year-old resident of Kaithal (Haryana), Devendra Singh, has been arrested for allegedly sharing sensitive information with Pakistani intelligence operatives, Kaithal Superintendent of Police (SP), Astha Modi said on Monday.

The accused is currently a first-year MA student at a college in Patiala.

Kaithal SP Astha Modi further added that Devendra was in contact with four Pakistani intelligence operatives-three men and one woman. "He went to Pakistan in November last year and after that he was constantly in touch with them. He has admitted to making a video near the cantonment area in Patiala and sending it to them," said SP Modi.

Devendra is on a three-day police remand. Police have searched his house and seized two electronic devices. A cyber forensic lab has recovered about 300 GB of data from these devices, which is now being analysed.

A forensic audit of his bank accounts is also underway.

The police informed that further investigation into the case is ongoing.

In a separate incident, following the arrest of YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra for allegedly sharing sensitive information and being in continuous contact with a Pakistani citizen, Odisha police is investigating her links with another YouTuber from the State.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) CID Crime Branch, Sarthak Sarangi, said that facts are being verified.

"We have just received information that YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra visited Puri's Jagannath temple and posted a video regarding it on Instagram. She also visited Chilika and Konark. She was in touch with a YouTuber from Odisha. We are verifying all the facts. We are in touch with our counterparts in Haryana regarding Jyoti Malhotra," the police official said.

Jyoti Malhotra, a resident of Hisar, Haryana, was arrested for allegedly sharing sensitive information and being in continuous contact with a Pakistani citizen. Puri Superintendent of Police, Vinit Agrawal, said that they are in touch with the Haryana police over the matter.

Earlier in Haryana, several individuals were arrested for alleged espionage activities in favour of Pakistan, according to Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapoor. He said the crackdown was the result of increased vigilance and surveillance across the state. (ANI)
