"Who is responsible for this?": YSRCP questions Andhra Pradesh government over Vizag temple accident

While speaking about the Visakhapatnam temple accident, Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) spokesperson Konda Rajiv stated that an unfortunate incident occurred at Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple during the Chandanolsavam festival.

He said that innocent devotees lost their lives due to the wall collapse and urged the state government to take all the necessary measures to treat the ones who are injured in the accident. Rajiv stated that the locals and devotees had previously raised doubts about the construction of the wall.

"Today, an unfortunate incident took place at Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple during Chandanolsavam...due to a wall collapse, innocent devotees lost their lives...I urge this govt to take better medical measures to treat the injured...who is responsible for this?...devotees and locals had previously raised doubts on the construction and quality of the wall but there was no response from govt", the YSRCP spokesperson said in a video released by party's media cell.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday condoled the demise of 7 people who died after a 20-foot wall collapsed during a temple festival in Visakhapatnam.

"I am deeply saddened by the death of seven devotees due to the collapse of a wall during the Chandanotsavam of Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy. My deepest condolences to the families of those who died in this incident due to the collapse of a wall due to heavy rains," read a post by the Chief Minister.

Seven people died, and four others were injured after a 20-foot-long stretch of a makeshift structure collapsed during the Chandanotsavam festival at the Sri Varahalakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Visakhapatnam in the early hours of today.

Search and rescue was carried out by teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Force, an official said. (ANI)
