In the aftermath of the tragic terror attack that took several innocent lives in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam region, Shiv Sena UBT MP Priyanka Chaturvedi on Wednesday said such acts would continue till the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) "does not become a part of India."

Taking to X, the UBT Rajya Sabha MP claimed that Pakistan was behind such acts and it would continue to "derive its wee bit of relevance as a terror hub."

"Till PoK doesn't become a part of India, Pakistan will continue to derive its wee bit of relevance as a terror hub. I say this with full responsibility, the time to address this anomaly is now. Have to say it," Chaturvedi said.

Her comments came a day after terrorists opened fire on a group of tourists in the Baisaran meadow area of Pahalgam, claiming multiple lives and sparking nationwide outrage, underscoring the ongoing concerns regarding reported cross-border terrorism emanating from Pakistan and its implications for India's national security as

The central government has since ramped up security across the region, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah visiting the site and reviewing the situation on the ground.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has also arrived at the site to assist local authorities in investigating the attack.

The NIA team - led by a Deputy Inspector General-rank officer - visited Baisaran a day after terrorists gunned down a group of tourists in the picturesque meadow, which is located around five kilometres from Pahalgam town in Kashmir's Anantnag district.

Official sources privy to the development told ANI that "the NIA team members will be assisting the Jammu and Kashmir Police in the investigation."

The NIA's assistance to J-K Police underscores a key role in the overall investigation, as Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba's proxy, the Resistance Front (TRF), has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The NIA team is expected to conduct a thorough assessment of the attack site, collect forensic evidence, and help in identifying those responsible for the carnage. (ANI)
