Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president, YS Sharmila Reddy, condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam (Jammu and Kashmir) and expressed condolences to the families of the deceased. She also called the attack a "cowardly act".

Her X post read, "The terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir was a cowardly act. The death of 30 people and the injury of several others in this attack have deeply shaken us. I express my deepest condolences to the families of the deceased. I wish the injured a speedy recovery."

Sharmila wrote that it was painful to know that three of the people who died in the attack were from Telugu-speaking states. She urged the central and state governments to support the families of the deceased.

"It is very sad that three Telugus were among the deceased in this attack. The Central and State Governments should stand by the families of the deceased in every possible way. Also, the entire country needs to fight terrorism together. The central government should take strong steps to prevent such incidents from happening in the future and to prevent the loss of innocent lives."

Earlier on Tuesday, Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) president, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, also expressed sorrow following the attack.

He took to X and wrote, "Shocked to hear about the terror attack in Pahalgam, condemn this cowardly act of violence. My thoughts are with the victims and their families. Praying for the speedy recovery of those injured."

Meanwhile, in Kashmir, political parties as well as traders' unions in the region have collectively called for a complete shutdown in the valley to show solidarity with the victims' families and to condemn the attack.

The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) has appealed to the people to make the Bandh a complete success and join in condemning the attack. (ANI)
