The Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) and the New Delhi Bar Association (NDBA) have issued strong statements denouncing the tragic terrorist massacre in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday.

Speaking to ANI, Senior Advocate N Hariharan, President, Delhi High Court Bar Association, said, "The bar has given its response. We have released a press release. We are also going to wear white bands in the protest over the incident. The incident was a cowardly act. It is attacking the sovereignty, integrity, and unity of our nation. We strongly condemn and urge the government to take immediate action and take measures against such incidents..."

The association plans to wear white bands in protest and has urged the government to take immediate action against such incidents.

While Senior Advocate Sachin Puri, Vice President Delhi High Court Bar Association said, "I, on my behalf, on behalf of the Executive Committee of the Delhi High Court Bar Association and on behalf of our members, condemn this attack which has been carried out. It's a cowardly act of the terrorists attacking innocent tourists, and we strongly condemn it. In fact, as a mark of protest, the members of the bar are today wearing black ribbons on their arms..."

On behalf of its members, the NDBA expressed profound sorrow and extended its deepest condolences to the families of innocent citizens who lost their lives in this brutal act of violence.

The association stands united with the victims and their families, strongly condemning the cowardly attack.

The DHCBA also condemned the attack, emphasising that such acts of terror pose a grave challenge to India's sovereignty and national integrity. The association reaffirmed its commitment to justice and security, urging unwavering efforts to combat terrorism and safeguard the nation's unity.

To pay homage, the NDBA requested its members to gather in the Central Hall today evening to pay homage to the departed souls.

The attack, unfolded on Tuesday in the Pahalgam area of Anantnag district, turned a place once known for its tranquillity into a site of mourning. The attack was one of the biggest terror attacks in the region after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.

Meanwhile, the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police have launched a search operation in the general area of Baisran, Pahalgam, Anantnag, to nab the perpetrators of the attack. (ANI)
