JanaSena Party President Pawan Kalyan on Wednesday announced a three-day mourning period following the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Baisaran area that claimed 28 lives, according to an official statement.

Party offices will lower flags to half-mast, hold candlelight vigils, and organise human chains to honour the victims and denounce terrorism.

Pawan Kalyan expressed deep grief over the incident and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims.

As a mark of respect, he has directed that three days of mourning be observed under the aegis of the JanaSena Party. Starting Wednesday morning, party flags at all JanaSena offices will be flown at half-mast.

Candlelight vigils will be held in the evening across party offices. On Friday evening, human chains will be organised statewide to denounce the terrorist attack and express solidarity with the victims, said a statement.

Following Tuesday's terror attack in Pahalgam that had left Kashmir Valley in deep mourning and the nation in collective grief, on Wednesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid his tributes to the victims by laying a wreath at a poignant ceremony outside the Police Control Room in Srinagar.

The tragedy that has shaken not just Kashmir but the entire country took place yesterday, where innocent tourists were killed, making it one of the biggest terror attacks after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.

Following the terror attack, security forces have launched search operations to track down the terrorists responsible. Security has been heightened since the attack, with visuals from the area showing the streets deserted in the usually bustling tourist area. Many organisations have also called for a Jammu bandh following the attack.

With the situation tense in the area, some tourists have decided to cut their trips short as well. (ANI)
