Telangana Minister for Panchayati Raj D Anasuya 'Seethakka' on Wednesday slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) chargesheet against Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi in the National Herald case.

Seethakka alleged that charges were part of a wider political vendetta aimed at targeting Rahul Gandhi.

"It is revenge from the BJP. For the past few years, they have tried to put Rahul Gandhi in jail in the wake of some allegations," she said.

She also referred to Rahul Gandhi's disqualification as MP after his conviction by a Surat court in a defamation case. His membership was reinstated after the Supreme Court stayed his conviction.

She also attacked the BJP over the National Herald case.

"The Herald paper was used to further the freedom fight movement, with opinions expressed and spread within the country," she said, adding that the Congress leaders had managed the paper with fairness and transparency at the time. The minister said Rahul Gandhi strongly attacks the central government over its policies.

Seethakka firmly rejected allegations of money laundering. "There is no money transaction, no anything, no money laundering. It is the freedom fighters' paper," she said.

Meanwhile, Several Indian Youth Congress members blocked a railway track and halted train in Patna while protesting over the ED's charge sheet against Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi in the alleged National Herald case.

The protestors climbed the train deck and began chanting slogans of "ED-shahi nahi chalegi! (ED rule will not be tolerated!)". Police officials walked the protestors away from the rail track, clearing the way. (ANI)
