RJD MLA Ritlal Yadav surrendered before the Danapur Court in Bihar on Thursday and was remanded to 14 days of judicial custody.

This comes days after police conducted searches at 11 locations linked to him following a complaint alleging forgery, extortion, and death threats.

Speaking to the media before surrendering, the MLA claimed the allegations were false and alleged a larger conspiracy to eliminate him.

"Attempts to kill me have been made for several months now. Some officials made an AK-47 available to my rival to facilitate him. He was told to kill me and assured that no case would be registered against him. When I came to know about this, I increased the number of my personal bodyguards. Police officials could not tolerate this and said I cannot keep private guards without permission. Still, I continued with those guards," he said.

He further alleged, "I also came to know of the beginning of the process to arrest me. I removed my personal bodyguards. After that, people started visiting my village. This continued for months. Not just me, but my entire village was in fear."

"The day my house was raided, in collusion with the builder (who has made allegations against me), the administration conspired to kill me. I am going to jail--my biggest threat is while going to jail and appearing before the court. I can be killed here as well. The builder himself is guilty. I will file a bail petition only when I feel I can save my life," Yadav said.
