Senior advocate Vivek Tankha, representing Leader of Opposition in Punjab and Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa, has said that the case registered against Bajwa is "a political vendetta" by the ruling AAP-led Punjab government.

Speaking exclusively to ANI, Tankha said, "This case is a case of a political vendetta. He had given a warning to the government from his side that the law and order situation in Punjab was bad...A case has been registered against him that he has incited people through this statement..."

Tankha confirmed that a petition has been filed before the court challenging the case. " We filed a petition before the court...The Court has ordered to list the matter tomorrow morning..." he added.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Congress has come in support of Bajwa. Senior Congress leader Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa had called Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann a 'jumlabaaz' and 'dramabaaz'.

Randhawa said, "The Chief Minister is a 'jumlabaaz', he wants to divert people's attention. The Chief Minister has not spoken publicly or to the press about the 18 hand grenade attacks to date... It is Punjab's misfortune that we have got such a 'dramabaaz' Chief Minister ..."

Earlier, Punjab Congress President and Ludhiana MP Amarinder Singh Raja Warring also attacked the AAP government.

Partap Singh Bajwa has come under fire for his remarks, where he said that 50 bombs have reached Punjab and 18 of them have already exploded, while the 32 bombs are yet to go off.

However, Bajwa argued that his statement about several bombs in Punjab was revealed to him by a source who worried for his and his family's safety.

"I stated to a TV channel that my sources have warned me that several bombs have come to Punjab. 18 bombs have exploded, and 30-32 bombs are to be used. My source told me that I am in an important position, so I should stay aware since my family has already been a victim of terrorism," he added. (ANI)
