Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday refuted the allegations of an alleged budget cut for the district of Lahaul and Spiti and the tribal areas in the state and said that funds are being made available for all the schemes.

CM Sukhu also spoke about two upcoming power projects, stating they will generate employment opportunities for the locals

"No, there is no such cut. Funds are being given for all schemes. We are in talks about building a high-end bridge in Spiti. So, instead of going just into numbers, whatever schemes are being told to us personally too, funds are being made available for those schemes too. Tribal areas have expanded. So, look into through schemes and not just the budget. Funds are being made available for all schemes. Two power projects are about to come here. This will generate employment for the locals. All projects for the region are going to come," CM Sukhu told reporters

He was asked about the allegations of the cut for Lahaul and Spiti & other tribal areas in the state.

Meanwhile, CM Sukhu, on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti, unveiled a statue of Bharat Ratna BR Ambedkar at the Deputy Commissioner's Office complex in Hamirpur on Monday.

According to a release, the Chief Minister also dedicated and laid the foundation stones for various development projects amounting to about Rs 38 crore.

Speaking at the commemorative event organised by the Congress Party's Scheduled Castes Department, CM Sukhu paid tribute to Ambedkar and said that his vision and leadership laid the foundation of a Constitution that ensures welfare, equality, and justice for all sections of society.

Inspired by Babasaheb's ideals, the Chief Minister said that the present state government was committed to building a self-reliant and prosperous Himachal Pradesh.

"Despite the challenges posed by the reduction in GST compensation and significant cuts in revenue deficit grants by the 14th and 15th Finance Commissions, the State Government has taken major steps to strengthen the fiscal system. The positive outcomes are now visible, and we seek continued public support to carry this momentum forward," he said. (ANI)
