Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav criticised Samajwadi Party MP Ramji Lal Suman on Saturday for his comments on Rajput King Rana Sanga, saying that "people who do not know history should not comment on it."

Criticising the Congress party too for being silent on the comments bythe SP MP, Yadav questioned the party leader's "mental state."

Yadav's comments were made during the TV9 Global summit 'What India Thinks Today' held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi today.

He further claimed that both the SP and Congress do not know history, and therefore should not speak on it, as everyone else respects the heroes of the country and takes inspiration from it.

"It looks like they (SP and Congress) do not know history, so it is better if they don't speak on it in the first place, we respect the heroes of our country and we take inspiration from it," Yadav said.

Following the statements made by the SP MP on the Rajput king Rana Sanga, members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Lucknow held a protest against Samajwadi Party. Earlier on March 26, violence erupted outside the residence of SP MP in Agra. Unidentified individuals resorted to stone pelting, breaking window panes and vandalising vehicles parked outside.

The SP MP had sparked controversy after alleged calling Rajput King Rana Sanga a "traitor" for allegedly bringing Babur, the founder of the Mughal dynasty, to defeat Ibrahim Lodi.

Rana Sanga, also known as Sangram Singh I, was the ruler of Mewar from 1508 to 1528 and is revered for his bravery and sacrifices. Suman's statement has been widely criticized, with many calling for an apology and action against him.

Speaking on the NDA's chances in the upcoming Bihar election later in the year, Bhupendra Yadav said, "BJP and NDA are trying to take Bihar on the path of development. Together with the allies, we will perform well in the upcoming elections. We go with the slogan of 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas' with NDA. BJP believes in alliance. We take everyone along. Behind doing something big, we have the feeling of making the country big."

The Union Minister also criticise the RJD for its claims on CM Nitish Kumar's health and said that no one believes them and the Nitish Kumar is a very respected leader. (ANI)
