Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who has the distinction of becoming the longest-serving CM of the state as well as one who has served two back-to-back terms, in an exclusive interview with ANI, addressed the possibility of a hat trick in the upcoming 2027 Assembly elections stating that "in a democracy government will be formed by whoever the people support."

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister underscored the democratic principle as the cornerstone of the party's future in the State.

When asked about his two consecutive terms as chief minister--a rare feat in the political history of the State --CM Adityanath credited the BJP's governance model.

"This is the first time a Chief Minister has served five years continuously and formed the government again with a two-thirds majority. For the last eight years, we've been serving here because of our model of service, security, and governance that the BJP has effectively applied... In a democracy, who the people support will form the government," CM Adityanath said.

On whether he would strive for a third term, he clarified, "I will not try. Our party will try... Any member of the BJP can become Chief Minister."

When asked about speculations on his potential move to Delhi and national politics, Adityanath, who was a five-time Lok Sabha MP from the Gorakhpur constituency before being elected to the Uttar Pradesh legislative Assembly stated that such moves are made when there is a "desire to move the inheritance forward" and side-stepped the conversation towards the development of Ayodhya under his governance.

Reflecting on his tenure, Adityanath highlighted the achievements of the past eight years in UP under the BJP government, stating that the people's support for his government was also one of many achievements.

"I can say that in the last eight years, our government has been working with Prime Minister Modi under his guidance and vision. For the complete development of Uttar Pradesh, whatever the plan was prepared, those areas have developed tremendously and the Janata Janardhan supported it. And I consider that the support of Janata Janardhan as the government's achievement," he said.

He pointed to progress in agriculture, youth development, infrastructure, investment, law and order, and tourism, adding that Uttar Pradesh was one of the most important examples.

"In many areas... be it agriculture, youth development, infrastructure, investment, law and order, tourism, or what the Prime Minister says about the best solution for inheritance and development, then Uttar Pradesh is one of the most important examples," CM Adityanath said. (ANI)
