BRS leader and MLC K Kavitha on Friday accused the Telangana government of a lack of transparency, alleging that while it claimed in the Assembly to have used Rs 1.53 lakh crore to repay debts from the previous administration, it failed to provide any details when questioned.

"The government of Telangana told the House today that they have utilized Rs 1.53 lakh crore of the loan taken this year to repay the debt of the previous government. When we asked for details and pressed for clarification, the Finance Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister of our state did not clarify any of our doubts," Kavitha told ANI.

She further accused the ministers of evading answers and claimed that their statements were not reflected in the budget documents provided. She said the opposition was considering moving a privilege motion in the Assembly during the final two days of the budget session.

"We asked specific questions, but he evaded the answers. What he said was not in the budget papers. So, we are discussing this within the party, and we might move a privilege motion in the last two days of the budget session. We will continue to fight the government and bring out the truth so the people of Telangana can understand the reality," she added.

The BRS, led by Kavitha, staged a protest at the Telangana Legislative Council on Friday against the Rs 1.5 lakh crore loan taken by the Revanth Reddy-led Telangana government in the past 15 months.

Speaking to ANI, Kavitha accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of misleading the public regarding the state's loan acquisitions and demanded that the government release a white paper on the loans taken over the past 15 months.

She also claimed that Reddy had made "false" statements when he recently asserted that loans amounting to Rs 1.58 lakh crore were acquired to pay off the debts incurred by the previous government, led by K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR). (ANI)
