Amid fresh developments in the 2020 Disha Salian death case, Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad on Wednesday urged political parties to refrain from 'politicising' the matter, asserting that reports on the case indicate the absence of any political angle.

Speaking to ANI, Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad said, "The CID report shows that there isn't a political angle in this case. The police do not have solid proof of murder or rape in this case. I request all political parties not to indulge in such dirty politics."

Maharashtra Congress MLC Bhai Jagtap also spoke on the case and said, "I don't know much. It is his right, he (Disha Salian's father) can go (to court) anytime. But my question is that if you feel that injustice has been done to you if you feel that your case has not been presented properly, then there was an opportunity to appeal at that time; why did you not go at that time?"

Meanwhile, as political reactions continue to pour over the new developments in the Disha Salian case, the opposition parties in Maharashtra targeted the BJP over the case, stating that it was a 'conspiracy' to defame Aaditya Thackeray.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Ambadas Danve on Wednesday accused the BJP of 'conspiring to defame' party leader Aaditya Thackeray by raising questions about him in connection with the Disha Salian death case.

Maharashtra's former Home Minister and NCP (SP) leader Anil Deshmukh on Thursday also said that the developments in the Salian case seem like a conspiracy.

This comes after Disha Salian's father approached the Bombay High Court seeking a CBI probe and an FIR against Aaditya Thackeray in her death case.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-SCP) leader Rohit Pawar also earlier in the day attacked the BJP, accusing the party of politicising late actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death for elections and claimed that the party would do politics over Disha Salian after her father sought a probe into her death.

Late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput's father, KK Singh, on Thursday, supported the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Disha Salian's father seeking a probe into his daughter's death, as he expressed hope that a conclusion could be reached on both the incidents.

Disha Salian, who was a celebrity manager, was found dead on June 8, 2020. In 2023, the Mumbai Police formed a three-member special investigation team (SIT) to probe Disha Salian's death. The Mumbai Police registered an accidental death case in the matter. (ANI)
