Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday hit out at Trinamool Congress member Saket Gokhale over remarks in the Rajya Sabha during a discussion on the working of his ministry and said that if the opposition member wants to expand the scope of discussion, everything will be answered.

Gokhale, who initiated the discussion, made references to CBI. Amit Shah said that CBI does not fall under his ministry, but if the scope of discussion is sought to be expanded, "there will be a reply for everything".

Gokhale claimed that as he began interpreting, the Home Minister "dar gaye" (got scared). Amit Shah strongly countered him and said the question of getting scared does not arise. Amit Shah said he is not in Parliament due to anyone's favour and has won elections repeatedly.

He said the CBI is probing cases on directions of the High Court and spoke of post-poll violence in West Bengal and alleged "inaction" by the Trinamool Congress government. He said no special CBI court had been set up in West Bengal.

Gokhale's personal observations against the Home Minister were expunged by Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar after he refused to withdraw them.

Union Health Minister JP Nadda, who is the Leader of the House, said the Trinamool Congress member should withdraw his remarks and apologise.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said Gokhale had lowered the dignity of the House and that the Trinamool Congress member had not given any constructive suggestion during the debate.

Gokhale also made remarks pertaining to BJP, and Nadda urged the Chair to expunge the comments

Chairman said the remarks of Gokhale were under his consideration, and he would give a ruling.

He said by making remarks of a personal nature, Gokhale had "polluted" his speech.

BJP member Sudhanshu Trivedi, who also took part in the debate, said that the NDA government had strengthened internal security and taken decisive action against terrorism.

The debate remained inconclusive and will resume tomorrow. (ANI)
