As part of the central government's outreach to farmers, three Union Ministers and Punjab Cabinet Ministers met with the farmers in Chandigarh on Wednesday amid their protest over several demands.
After meeting with farmers' leaders, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan emphasized that the discussion was very positive. The government has stated that they need some more time as they have to conduct inter-ministerial discussions on this matter. PT John from Kerala emphasized that they would not compromise on their demand for a legal guarantee on MSP. "The farmers from Kerala are unanimously asking for the legal guarantee of the Minimum Support Price must be passed in the Parliament. We will not compromise on this demand.
