Azad Samaj Party (ASP) president and Nagina MP Chandrashekhar Azad on Sunday criticised Bahujan Samaj Party supremo, Mayawati's decision to remove Akash Anand from all party posts.

Azad expressed concerns about the impact of Mayawati's decisions on society and politics. He pointed out that Akash Anand's removal and subsequent reinstatement, only to be removed again, has created confusion and restlessness among the Bahujan society. Azad believes this has led to political losses for the Bahujan Samaj.

"I do not want to say much about her personal decision, but because her decisions affect society as well as politics, the kind of decisions she has taken in the last 1 year, first during the Lok Sabha elections, she removed him (Akash Anand) and then made him again after 2 months and now again within 1 year, she has removed him... Such repeated efforts have created restlessness in society, creating confusion, and the Bahujan Samaj has suffered political loss. Now the society has to decide with whom they stand...," said Azad.

In June 2024, Mayawati made her nephew Akash Anand her sole successor and entrusted him with the responsibility of party National Coordinator.

Earlier, too, Mayawati had removed Akash from all the important posts of the party on May 7, 2024, in the middle of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, calling him immature.

However, he weighed in on Mayawati's decision to remove Akash Anand from all party posts, saying it's ultimately her call as the BSP chief.

Azad acknowledged Mayawati's authority, stating that as the party owner, she makes decisions after careful consideration.

"This is Behenji's own decision, and she is the owner of the party. When the owner takes a decision, she takes it after careful consideration," said Azad.

This development comes after Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati announced significant changes in the party leadership on Sunday during a high-level meeting in Lucknow.

Mayawati removed her nephew Akash Anand from all party posts and appointed her brother Anand Kumar and Ramji Gautam as national coordinators to oversee party affairs across the country.

In a statement released earlier today, Mayawati announced the appointment of Anand Kumar and Ramji Gautam as the National Coordinators of the party and announced that she is expelling Ashok Siddharth, Akash Anand's father-in-law, for "factionalism."

Due to his expulsion, Ashok Anand was also removed from his posts; however, the BSP supremo held only Ashok Siddharth responsible for this.

"Being an honest and loyal disciple and successor of BSP founder Kanshi Ram, I have expelled Ashok Siddharth, who is also the father-in-law of Akash Anand, from the party in the interest of the party. He has done this heinous act of weakening the party by dividing it into two factions in the entire country, including Uttar Pradesh, which is absolutely intolerable, and all this was also seen in the wedding of his son," Mayawati's statement read.

The statement added, "In such a situation, in the interest of the party that Akash Anand be been separated from all the responsibilities of the party, for which not the party but his father-in-law Ashok Siddharth is completely responsible and which has damaged the political career of Akash Anand along with causing damage to the party."
