In a heartwarming tale, a sarpanch from Udala, Mayurbhanj, Odisha, has embarked on a mission to help orphaned children. Having witnessed the struggles of the hungry, he has taken it upon himself to provide for those in need.

In a noble gesture, Sumi Hansda, the Sarpanch of Sanakhuntia Panchayat in Odisha's Gopabandhunagar block, has launched 'Muthae Chaula' (Rice for the Needy), a mission aimed at providing food to orphaned children and others in need. The initiative encourages willing donors, particularly those receiving free rice through their ration cards, to contribute to the cause.

Sumi Hansda stated, "I presented this program to Panchayat members to provide food to helpless people and orphans. They supported it wholeheartedly, and our Panchayat continues to distribute ration. I sincerely thank the Panchayat members for their support. This is my small effort to help the helpless and orphaned."

Ration card holder Aftab Alam added, "Each person should donate a handful of *chaaul* (rice). Whatever is collected in the donation box will benefit orphaned children. Everyone can contribute, even if it's just a handful. Those who wish to give more are welcome to do so. This will greatly help orphaned and helpless children."

A designated drum with a *Muthae Chaula* sign has been placed outside the Panchayat office, inviting people to donate rice voluntarily. This noble endeavour relies on small contributions from individuals to bring joy and sustenance to those in need.

As a people's representative, one is expected to go beyond their jurisdiction and think about the welfare of all. Sumi Hansda has exemplified this spirit, and his efforts are truly commendable.

The sarpanch is often seen sitting next to the rice drum, personally receiving donations from willing contributors. Each time someone donates rice, he greets them with a respectful *namaskar*, expressing his gratitude.

With a warm smile, he welcomes everyone to contribute to the noble cause. His efforts have not only brought joy to the recipients but also to the donors, who feel a sense of fulfilment in being part of this initiative.

The sarpanch's dedication and humility have made this endeavour a truly heartwarming experience. (ANI)
